Emily W. Upham, a pianist, is a native of Connecticut and was a student of Donald Currier at the Yale School of Music. She began her performance career at an early age as a winner of the William Inglis Morse prize for Music. After she graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, her subsequent training, in Paris with Reine Gianoli and Nadia Boulanger, and in New York at the Manhattan and Juilliard Schools, led her to coach and accompany singers of classical music in concert both in the United States and abroad, and to found the vocal performance group ArtSong Nouveau.  Her full resume can be accessed here.

Emily has been active as a French interpreter for the U.S. State Department. She has studied at the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis, and following a serious injury to her back has become certified and practices as a coach to help people define their goals and achieve them. In 2010 Simon and Schuster published a book that Emily co-edited and co-authored with a number of famous writers: IN THE FULLNESS OF TIME: 32 Women on Life After 50 (See facebook page with that title). She lives in the Hudson Valley with her husband and their many animals.  She can be reached by email: uplandvl@valstar.net

Emily continues to teach piano privately and to coach and accompany singers of classical music. She is the founder and pianist of ArtSong Nouveau, a vocal performance group that combines art song (classical) with songs of all kinds, thus bringing the classical repertoire to people who would normally not hear it.
